Biopsychosocial perspective on low back pain: patient provider communications

The term “biopsychosocial” has become quite fashionable in the low back pain industry. Nonetheless, many, if not most, spine care practitioners who employ the term do not appreciate the scope and limitations of the concepts involved, how they were evolved, or the responsibility they place on providers to change behaviors.
